Boardman GBT Format Change
For the first time since the tour began September 29, the entire GBT road staff met with the players in Toledo October 22 to discuss what they like and don’t like about the daily operation of the tour.
The one hour meeting was extremely positive, with helpful suggestions coming from all corners of the room, many of which will be implemented when the tour starts its winter swing in Florida in early 2007.
One immediate change will be to the announced format in Boardman, Ohio October 27-November 1. The best 2 of 3 game matchplay format previously announced will be changed to the traditional round robin matchplay format used in the first four GBT events. The 16-game qualifying rounds will not change.
“The players unanimously expressed a desire to use the round-robin format, so we’ll make that change now, because we’re here for the players,” said Frank Ellenburg, GBT Tournament Director.
Generations Tour entries are climbing steadily, with 72, 75, 85 and 97 entries in the first four events. This week, in Toledo, the champion will take home a check for $25,000.
